

It only goes without saying that this iconic game would become all the more enjoyable to play once people installed the following mods, as well. Updated on June 1, 2021, by Ritwik Mitra: During a time when most first-person shooters had become addicted to cinematics over pure action, DOOM (2016) set the gaming stage alight with its fast-paced combat and extremely satisfying gunplay. The game even debuted some truly imaginative stages that ended up being quite memorable in their own right. On April 6th, 2019, DOOM Eternal was released for Xbox One on March 15th. Turns out there are quite a few interesting mods that change the way you play, essentially lengthening DOOM's lifespan until Eternal arrives. Its basically New Game Plus, throwing in end game enemies in earlier missions. So instead of playing with DOOM's (2016) nightmare mode for the millionth time, you ought to try modding the game. Thankfully, id Software has heard out anguished cries and is poised to release DOOM Eternal, the sad part is that we don't get it until 2020. Suffice to say, we all want more DOOM and more angry DOOM guy violent tantrums. One odd bit: They’re doing multiplayer again for some reason. Throw in a few new guns, a few new tools, a few new enemies, and I’m all set for the newly announced November 22 release. Sure, to an extent it simply looks like “More Doom,” but honestly that’s exactly what I wanted given how 2016’s reboot never got any campaign DLC. I’m also excited about the prospect of a grappling hook that yanks you towards enemies, creepy demon tentacles bursting from the floor, and what looks like a zero-gravity environment at one point? That “Demonic Corruption” meter is still hanging out in the top-right corner of the screen as well, still unexplained. It did make for some artful shooting though, plus a lot more platforming challenges than I would’ve expected. Of course, digging deep into Doom is a bit funny because you play as a character named Doomslayer and uh, very little of the story matters. Per usual, Bethesda dug deep into one game to close out its press conference.
